PAS tells BN MPs to unite in supporting Muhyiddin

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan says the party’s 18 MPs are in full support of the PN government.

PETALING JAYA: PAS has called on Barisan Nasional MPs to remain united in defending Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan Nasional-led administration.

In a statement, the party’s secretary-general, Takiyuddin Hassan, thanked the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, for standing with the government in the fight against Covid-19.

“PAS express our undivided loyalty to the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin, and reaffirm the support of all our 18 MPs for the Perikatan Nasional government which is caring and acts to ensure the safety, economy, peace of the country and people are protected,” the statement said.

The statement was in response to the King’s decision against declaring a state of emergency, and Umno’s decision late last night to continue backing the PN-led administration.

The Umno Supreme Council also decided against working with PKR and DAP to form a new government, amid strained ties with Perikatan Nasional lynchpin, PPBM.

The party also called for a National Reconciliation Initiative or National Peace Agenda to be implemented immediately by mobilising the participation of all political parties under the Perikatan Nasional government as well as opposition parties.
