All powerful women, like entrepreneurs, doctors and even scientists, fashion a sharp, desirable look no matter how busy they are.
How do they find the time? By some simple yet clever techniques.
1. Always step out looking well groomed
Generally, women feel the need to look their best at all times, whether it be through waxing, Botox, laser treatment, facials or cosmetic surgery.
While the assumption is that powerful, successful women are too busy for this, in reality, they’re just rather efficient at sprucing themselves up.
And you can do it, too!
Keep your hairstyle manageable with fuss-free styles that won’t need styling throughout the day. Keep your hair at a practical length for easy maintenance because a smart, stylish hairstyle is all you need.
You’re working with your hands all day, so keep your nails short rather than long, with a simple, curved tip. Your nails will break easily if they are too long. On the other hand, nails that are too short will make your fingers look round and chubby.
In addition to the length, the shape of your nails is also important. Sharp square or rectangular tips will catch and tear on everything, so keep the tips slightly curved for the best look.
Every woman likes a fragrance that identifies her. Wearing a pleasant, long-lasting fragrance is always a great appeal, but make sure it is not overpowering. You don’t want to repel people.
Another simple trick is to keep your teeth clean. Not only do your pearly whites portray an overall smart look, it’s important for your general health as well.
2. Develop a signature style
All powerful women have a personal, signature style. Take Michelle Obama, for example. She wears sleeveless tops and embossed belts instead of traditional suits.
A woman’s signature style projects a strong, confident and independent identity.
To develop your own signature style, check out the runway styles and fashion magazines.
Look for one or two pieces that stand out and that you’re comfortable with. Incorporate them into your wardrobe to create a fresh signature look of your own.
3. Use cosmetics the right way
Various research studies have shown that cosmetics help women present a strong message of credibility and health.
To quote Bobbi Brown, “I believe all women are pretty without makeup, but with the right makeup can be pretty powerful”.
You have to maintain the correct balance between your natural look and the makeup to look smart and original.
Don’t go heavy with the makeup brush; the right amount of makeup will enhance and highlight your natural beauty.
Wearing just eyeliner and mascara will sufficiently emphasise the beauty of your eyes. There’s no need to wear smoky eyes and/or false eyelashes at formal events.
If you didn’t get a good night’s sleep, then brighten up your face with a mild, neutral coloured shadow and some soft blush or a light smidge of bronzer on the apple of your cheeks.
Add some colour to your lips with a soft-coloured lipstick or lip gloss throughout the day as needed.
4. Wear quality classics
Powerful women are financially wise and conscious about saving their time. This means that they must choose quality clothing.
Classics are always in fashion and quality clothes are durable, and you’ll save time by not having to shop as often.
Before buying an item, check its construction and quality; don’t buy something that won’t last more than one season.
Be sure to take proper care of your clothes; regularly wash, dry clean, and press your clothes (if you don’t have time for this, drop them off at a professional cleaning service). Use velvet hangers to support your clothes in the closet.
5. Embrace personal re-stylings
Accessories are great additions to any outfit, enhancing the confident look of a successful woman.
Choose jewellery carefully to complement your outfit. Simple but effective accessories like elegant scarves and stylish belts make a smart statement.
Accessories also help restyle an outfit; using the right jewellery and other accessories, an outfit for work can be turned into an outfit for an evening out with the girls.
Effortlessly turn a work dress into a party dress with some strappy, high heels in place of your work pumps.
Using these simple techniques, you too can be a fashionable, powerful woman.
