Office workers, and even those working from home now, spend most of the week deskbound.
Then there is the commute and the errands – from grocery shopping, to collecting the dry cleaning – not to mention taking care of the home and pets and getting meals.
The list seems to go on and on. So, where does one find the time to get some exercise in order to stay healthy?
For many people who are juggling a hectic schedule, a fitness regime might seem impossible to achieve. But sitting for many hours can cause harm as it increases the risk of obesity, heart disease, backache and poor posture.
Even a simple workout would help keep one in shape and healthy, as well as boost endorphins to relieve stress.
A few easy exercises done at one’s desk or in one’s cubicle at the office could be the answer for busy people to stay fit and productive.
1. Triceps dips
Avoid a wheeled chair for this exercise. Try to do 20 dips.
2. Arm circles
This is so easy it can be done in one’s sleep. Do 20 circles in each direction.
3. Calf raises
Another easy exercise that can be done while answering calls at one’s desk or printing documents.
4. Seated bicycle crunch
Who said a bicycle crunch can’t be done while sitting on a chair? Think again!
5. Standing hamstring curl
Targeting the hamstring area, this simple exercise can be done while on the phone. Do 10 reps for each leg.
It is surprising how these easy office desk exercises can help improve strength and burn some calories.
