SHAH ALAM: A senior citizen was arrested for driving against traffic and causing two accidents here yesterday afternoon.
Police said the 73-year-old man was found driving against traffic on the Kemuning Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA) heading towards Shah Alam city centre at about 5pm, causing accidents at Km3.1 and Km6.6 of the highway.
In the first accident, a 33-year-old motorist was injured when the car he was driving overturned while trying to avoid the senior citizen’s vehicle, said Shah Alam district police chief Baharudin Mat Taib.
Another car collided with the senior citizen’s car in the second incident.
Baharudin said an initial investigation found the man lost his way while heading to a supermarket in Section 13 Shah Alam and accidentally drove into the expressway when he realised he did not have a Touch ‘n Go card.
He then decided to turn back and drive against traffic to return home in Section 8.
