KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested for allegedly driving against traffic and crashing his Volvo SUV into a Perodua Myvi on Jalan Klang Lama here yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya said the 35-year-old suspect was arrested when he turned up at the Jalan Bandar police station yesterday afternoon.

“After receiving a report on the incident, which went viral on social media, police summoned both drivers to the police station to lodge a report.

“Both the individuals showed up at the Jalan Bandar police station,” he said when contacted last night.

He said the Volvo driver’s urine test turned out positive for drugs.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving and also under the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug abuse.

He said an application would be made tomorrow to remand the driver for further investigation.

“This case will be referred to the public prosecutor as soon as possible,” he said.
