Auxiliary cop held after student claims molest at LRT station

The auxiliary policeman admits meeting the student but denies molesting her.

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested an auxiliary policeman alleged of molesting a female student in an LRT station here last Thursday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 36-year-old suspect stationed there was arrested at about 12.30pm yesterday.

He said the suspect had admitted meeting the 19-year-old student but denied molesting her.

The suspect will be brought to the Magistrate’s Court to obtain a remand order against him.

The student had claimed that she was molested by an auxiliary policeman at the station at about 3.30am on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad said it would provide full cooperation to police over the matter.

It said it would also conduct an internal investigation and submit the findings to police.

“The personnel had gone to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters this afternoon to record his statement and was detained for further investigation,” it said in a statement yesterday.

“Prasarana takes this matter seriously and will not compromise with any individual who violates the law or commits a crime.”
