LOS ANGELES: Co-written and produced by Ezrah Roberts-Grey, By Any Means is the first track out from Roc Nation’s upcoming compilation of social justice-themed tracks.

“I take pride in the things that we’ve done/ Side by side in the revolution,” sings Smith. “Won’t stay silent for things that I love.”

On the inspiration for the song, the British singer said in a statement that “[It] really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking, what can I do to keep this conversation going? It’s not just a post on social media, it’s life.”

None of the other artists on the Roc Nation album have been revealed yet.

A portion of the proceeds will go towards organisations that support victims of police misconduct, hate crimes and other civil rights violations, and work to end child incarceration and racial inequities in the US justice system.

Smith released her debut album Lost & Found in 2018.

Last year, she teamed up with Burna Boy for Be Honest, and in 2020 contributed a song titled Kiss Me In The Morning to La La Land director Damien Chazelle’s new Netflix series The Eddy.

She also recently shared a cover of St. Germain’s Rose Rouge for the forthcoming Blue Note Re:imagined compilation.
